Parent’s/Legal Guardian’s Rights to their Children’s Collected Information

As a parent/guardian, you have the right to monitor/review the information collected about your child and to delete and/or remove the child’s personal information.

Upon receipt by GCDA Magazine of your request to do any of the above, we will verify that you are in fact the child’s parent/legal guardian. We request that you contact us at the address below to exercise this right.

The Personal Information We Collect and How We Use It

Throughout our Website, your child may navigate freely without providing any personally identifiable information to us, including but not limited to, the “get published” section.

Certain sections of our Website may collect individually identifiable information from our users, including name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and other personal information; however, we will never collect any personal information from a child under the age of 13 without proper parental notice or consent.  Please see below for more information concerning specific features of our Website.

  • GCDA Magazine Website:  Users of our Website may request to receive regular newsletters/updates and information from GCDA Magazine. The only information we require from a child is their first name and email address. If the requester indicates that he or she is under the age of 13, we also ask for the email address of a parent. The contact information we collect is used only to send these updates to the child and for no other purpose. GCDA Magazine will not combine contact information collected exclusively to fulfill a user’s request for newsletters/updates with any other information collected on the Website.  If we use the services of a third party to help us deliver or process the delivery of these updates to the child, we will only do so under a contract which requires the third party assisting us to keep such information strictly confidential.
  • GCDA Magazine’s Advisory Committee:  Certain individuals may be selected as GCDA Magazine Advisory Committee members.  Advisory Committee members will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement to maintain privacy and may provide input on projects such as new product concepts, articles, contests, promotions, product testing, product preferences, opinion surveys, polls, content, teen questions, and other GCDA Magazine research. Information collected will be used only for GCDA Magazine’s marketing purposes in connection with the sale or advertising of GCDA Magazine’s products and/or services.  Except as outlined under this Privacy Policy, any information shared with third parties will be done on an anonymous basis, and only under contract which requires the third party assisting us to keep such information confidential.
  • PayPal.com:  Our Website offers users the chance to purchase subscriptions though PayPal.com. Although PayPal is a third party, PayPal has a strict Privacy Policy and we direct you to their policy directly. After you have added a subscription(s) to your shopping cart, you will be directed to PayPal, where your transaction will be finalized.  PayPal will collect personal information in order to complete the purchase.  Data collected by PayPal in connection with GCDA Magazine will be kept separate and private.  Any information collected and maintained by PayPal should be referenced through and is subject to their Privacy Policy.  Additionally, you may receive cookies from PayPal for which we have no control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or website content of PayPal. Please review their Privacy Policy before making a purchase on PayPal. If you are not comfortable with PayPal’s policies, do not make a purchase through PayPal.  Alternatively, money orders and cheques are acceptable forms of payment for subscriptions and can be mailed to 15-75 Bayly Street West, Suite #229 , Ajax , ON , L1S 7K7 .  Please allow 4 – 6 weeks for the processing of cheque and money order subscriptions.

  • Third Parties and their software may, from time to time, passively collect and track information about user activities on their Website.  When a user is directed to another website by a link from our Website, we strongly suggest that you review that Third Party’s particular Privacy Policy and agree to its terms before proceeding to use and enjoy that website.
